Sage
Considered by the Greeks and Romans as a sacred plant, sage (scientific name sage officinalis) is a fragrant plant belonging to the family of Laminaceae. It is a perennial and evergreen shrub. It is easily recognizable by its characteristic lance-shaped leaves, slightly velvety, and its blue-purple flowers. The active and beneficial ingredients are contained in the leaves which are rich in flavonoids, vitamins B1 and C and an essential oil containing tujone, which gives the typical smell and taste.
